Very rightly described as the land between the earth and sky,writers, anthropologist and adventure lovers often refer Ladakh as the Moon Land or the Broken Moon Land. Situated at an altitude between 2,750 m to 7,672 m ,Ladakh is located in the Trans-Himalayan region of India bordering Pakistan and China and physically not far from Afghanistan and Russia. Leh is the capital of Ladakh and the pivotal of all the tours. The palace on the hilltop dominates Leh. Once it was the trading center for salt, spice, silk, carpets, dyestuffs and narcotics from Yarkand, Kashgar, China and other parts of the Central Asia connecting to the famous silk route.
