Day 2–25/10: Antananarivo by flight (1hour) Fort Dauphin by road (3hrs 30minutes drive) Berenty
Transfer to the airport and flight to the deep South of Madagascar.

Welcome by the hotel staff.
Drive towards Berenty reserve. Thirty kilometres from Fort Dauphin, we change abruptly from the green area of the Antanosy to the spiny vegetation of Androy just after a pass. We stop on the way to see an endemic palm (triangular palm) and nepenthes pitcher plant. You can discover many species of spiny bushes and trees such as aloes, euphorbia, didieracea, baobabs. We will drive through sisal plantation in Mandrare valley before getting to Berenty reserve.

Day 3–26/10: Berenty Reserve
Located about 100 km from Fort Dauphin, near the town of South Amboasary and inside a huge sisal plantation, the Berenty Private Nature Reserve covers an area of 240 ha along the river Mandrare. Its wildlife belongs to the gallery forest classified as spiny bush characteristic of southern of Madagascar.
The fauna is mainly composed of lemur, four species are particularly very common in the south : Verreaux Sifaka (Propithecus verreauxi verreauxi), Ring-tailed lemur (lemur catta), Grey mouse lemur (microcebus murinus) and White footed lemur (Lepilemur leucopus). The Brown lemur (Eulemur fulvus rufus) was introduced from Morondava area but been adapted to the environment.
Turtles, chameleons, snakes and butterflies are also found there. It is a good spot for bird watching as well. The flora is composed of Tamarind trees, Didieracea (Didiera trollii, Alluaudia procera), Euphorbiacea (Euphorbia stenoclada, Euphorbia onoclada), Apocynacea (different Pachypodium, Catharantus roseus) and Liliacea (different species of Aloe).
A museum is built into the reserve devoted to Antandroy tradition and arts, exposing parts of everyday life, musical instruments, amulets and other talismans intended to the art of divination.

Day 4–27/10: Berenty by road Fort Dauphin by flight Antananarivo
You have a few time to greet a few lemurs in the forest if you are up early. Head to Fort Dauphin airport from Berenty. We might have time to visit the Fort Flacourt.

Welcoming in Tana and lunch in a restaurant near the airport.
We drive north in the afternoon for the visit of Ambohimanga historical Palace

Day 5 – 28/10: Antananarivo > Andasibe (150kms-3hours drive)
Aftern breakfast, we drive east towards Andasibe National Park. This is one of the main roads of the country, it is relying the most important sea port in Toamasina and the capital Antananarivo, a heavy traffic. We leave the highlands by the steep slope of Mandraka where starts the forest corridor representing generally the eco-region along the east part of Madagascar. Visit of the butterfly farm to see an amazing concentration of chameleon, gecko, leaf-tailed gecko and butterfly of course. Then go on east. Arrival in Andasibe in the afternoon. Installation at the hotel and then go for a night walk in the Mitsinjo community reserve.

Day 6 – 29/10: Andasibe National park >Antananarivo.(150kms-3 hrs 30 mints drive )
We walk into the forest to discover this protected area with a local guide. It is mainly covered with rain forest that peculiar to the east part of Madagascar. The park provides a habitat for rare and/or endemic species of rain forest, a remarkable biodiversity. Here we meet the largest lemur, which is the Indri Indri with fascinating family group behaviour. The guide will inform you about their customs. The Aye-Aye (DaubentoniaMadagascariensis) is an endemic nocturnal lemur, which is the most strange and archaic of all species. Other species living in the forest are bamboo lemur (HapalemurGriseus), woolly lemur (AvahiLaniger). The flora is very interesting, there are many medicinal plants. We drive back to Tana at the beginning of the. Transfer the hotel near the airport for a day use and Diner (take shower), We drive to the airport after diner for check in for the flight back.
